The
Church and The Community
Aldergate Playgroup and Mother and Toddler Group.
Dozens of mothers are already enjoying the benefits of our new town centre pre-school, based at the Central Methodist Church, causing a pleasant surprise for the pair behind the venture. Ann Oughton and Nicki Bowman realised their was a need for such a service with the convenience of a central location, but they hadn’t expected it to take off so instantly. Because of a spin-off demand, over and above their original plans, they have launched a mother and toddler group aswell.
Ann
Oughton, who holds a diploma in pre-school practice,
became aware of the scope for a new group because the one where she previously
worked was having to turn people away.
So along with Nicki Bowman, she decided to set
up a new group. After nearly five months
planning, they were able to set up the Aldergate
pre-school. Thanks to the help of the Rev. John Rowe they now meet at the
Central Methodist Church.
Ann and Nicki spent many hours re-decorating the room at the church, which now look very splendid and just right for its new purpose, with bright colours and educational items around the room. The pre-school group, because of its central location is able to offer child care to people from all over the town and surrounding areas, who can go about their work, shopping or personal business in the knowledge that their children are being well cared for in a very pleasant environment.
The Playgroup runs every weekday during the school term from 9:00 to 11.45 a.m. and the Baby and Toddlers Group on Tuesday from 10:00 till noon.
The Aldregate Pre-School has been inspected and registered by Tamworth Borough Council and Social Services and still has places available

CHOIRS
We are pleased that Central Methodist
Church, Tamworth actively supports the Tamworth thriving local arts scene. Both the Tamworth Male Voice and Ladies
choirs use Central as their rehearsal rooms.
Both choirs are of an exceptional standard and perform concerts not only
in the UK, but overseas as well. We are
pleased and honoured that they use the facilities at Central. During the course of the year, both choirs
hold shows where the profits arising are donated to various charities,
including our church, and we would like to thank them for their support.
Please support
their various concerts, not only because they support us, but simply because
they put on such good shows.
