access to the schoolroom.
2. Removal of the old wooden staircase and
construction of a new entrance porch. Access to the upper schoolroom will be
via an extension to the existing Church staircase.
3. Conversion of the ladies toilet into a disabled one
and the gents into a childrens.
4. Refurbishment of the kitchen to allow for the

BUILDING WORKS & ALTERATIONS
AN UPDATE
One of the first tasks, when building work began,
was to build the retaining wall for the new toilet block within the floor space
of the old lower schoolroom. Once the wall
was built the shape of the schoolroom was changed, as can be seen from the
pictures below.
Here,
exclusively, are the first pictures of the new toilet block, before it has been
finished, as the walls are still bare plaster.
In order to
provide access to the upper schoolroom, without going through the worship area,
a new doorway and staircase was required from the curved stairway at the rear
of the church. The progress of this
access is seen below.
With the
installation of the new stairway to the upper schoolroom the old rear staircase
could be removed – which alone lets more light into the entrance, but which
also allows work to begin on the new glass entrance, which will allow light to
flood into the church entrance.
