From
their earliest days Methodists have maintained the importance of personal EXPERIENCE of
God to the Christian’s journey. That
is to say, God is not remote from us, but is to be encountered in daily
living. Just as early followers of
Jesus were enabled and empowered for mission on the day of Pentecost, so we
affirm the vital EMPOWERING and
the leading of the Holy Spirit in our EVANGELISM. |

One
of the important ways we seek to make known the love of God is through our NUTURE of others, especially the
vulnerable and isolated. As such there
is in our nurturing a special focus on children and young people, and the
elderly. |

A
sense of belonging or TOGETHERNESS is a possession of all those who are part of a
healthy family unit. In his prayer
that the early disciples “…may be one”, Jesus confirms that this is also
God’s will for all church communities.
We thus acknowledge our shared responsibility to foster the oneness
spoken of by Jesus. We are especially
reminded of our responsibility to: support and encourage one another;
maintain and develop our partnerships with other Christians and to extend a
warm and loving welcome to all those we encounter. |

We
recognise the RESOURCES that have been placed in our charge. We acknowledge the mission opportunities afforded
to our church via our premises and town centre location. Through the use of our building we seek to REACH OUT to the surrounding community. In this way we hope that our premises are a
valued community asset, which brings to all users an awareness of the
Christian life. We thus pledge to
guard against neglect of all our resources and opportunities. |

Love
for God leads naturally to ADORATION of and ACTION for God. We therefore, as far as we are able, pledge
to engage ourselves in and share responsibility for our church’s worship,
witness and service. |

God’s LOVE is a continuous reality
in our lives. We therefore seek to
make available times of worship, prayer, Bible study and fellowship, in order
that we and others may continue to LEARN of all that God has done and continues to do in the
world. |
